Google unterstützt Firefox auch weiterhin

Vor 2 Wochen ging die Angst um, Google könnte Firefox den Geldhahn zudrehen.

Nun meldet das Mozilla Blog man habe sich mit Google auf eine weitere Zusammenarbeit geeinigt. Für mindestens 3 Jahre wird also Google die Standardsuchmaschine im Firefox bleiben, wofür Google einen unbekannten Betrag bezahlt:

“Under this multi-year agreement, Google Search will continue to be the default search provider for hundreds of millions of Firefox users around the world,” said Gary Kovacs, CEO, Mozilla.

 

“Mozilla has been a valuable partner to Google over the years and we look forward to continuing this great partnership in the years to come,” said Alan Eustace, Senior Vice President of Search, Google.

Der genaue Betrag wurde nicht genannt, er wird wohl ein wenig tiefer ausfallen als bisher, aber trotzdem so hoch, dass die Weiterentwicklung des Firefox Browsers nicht gefährdet ist.
